每周五早上，穆塔纳比街都会禁止车辆通行，变成自上世纪70年代以来一直存在的露天阅览室。从天刚亮，商贩们就开始在地上摆放书籍，出版社也带来了新的阿拉伯语书籍，到了上午十点左右，沙班达尔咖啡馆外还会举行诗歌朗诵会。这里无需门票，也没有任何正式的组织安排——你只需随意走动，慢慢漫步，随手买下你看到的东西即可。如果想舒舒服服地逛逛，最好在十点前来；到了中午，街上就会人山人海，摩肩接踵。
