Jamarat Bridge

Mina
About

A large multi-level pedestrian bridge in Mina built to let Hajj pilgrims perform the Stoning of the Devil (ramy al-jamarat) at three targets, al-Sughra (small), al-Wusta (middle) and al-Aqabah (great). The pillars were replaced by long walls after the 2004 stampede, and the whole bridge was rebuilt as a multi-storey structure between 2006 and 2010 after fatal crowd crushes, greatly increasing capacity and safety.
