About

In a historic building constructed in 1917, once the private residence of a Jewish Baghdadi family, the scent of heritage still lingers in its weathered walls walls that continue to bear the hallmarks of authentic Baghdadi architecture.

Spanning nearly 385 square meters, the house comprises 14 rooms of various functions, adorned with traditional wooden shanasheel and intricately decorated windows. It stands as a living example of the beauty and endurance of traditional Baghdadi design, preserved through the changing tides of time.

In recent years, the building has been transformed into Darboona Restaurant and Café—a unique space that blends historical atmosphere with the rich flavors of Iraqi cuisine, all while maintaining the integrity of its architectural heritage.

The interior décor is inspired by classic Baghdadi style, offering cozy seating suitable for both families and young visitors, wrapped in a warm and friendly ambiance that transports guests back to the golden days of old Baghdad.

The menu features beloved Iraqi dishes such as kebab, dolma, okra stew, and traditional marag (gravies), all concluding with delectable local desserts creating an experience that unites the nostalgia of the past with the tastes of home.
