A granodiorite hill roughly 70 m high (peak elevation ~454 m) on the Plain of Arafat, about 20 km southeast of Makkah. It is the focal point of the Day of Arafah, the most important day of Hajj, when pilgrims perform the 'standing' (wuquf). Associated with the Prophet's Farewell Sermon and, by tradition, the reunion of Adam and Eve.
